HONG KONG - food

The Hong Kong style food is so famous in the world.
Those people imigrated from Hong Kong brought their eating culture to the place they lived.
However, the spirit of Hong Kong style food is still in Hong Kong I believe so.
As a practicer, I tried as many food as possible (you can say I want to 'save' some in my stomach before I come to India).
Although I didn't have enough budget for shopping in the shopping kingdom, I still did my best to eat, eat, eat there!
Ha~ Let me share what I ate there...
(Wait~ I got to take a bottle to fill my spit)

1. 飲茶 (Yan Cha):
HK people like drinks tea so much~
It is the same to Taiwanese.
But they create many food to accompany with tea.
It becomes a icon of HK for me now.

I believe I had my best 飲茶 meal in my life......
As you can see~ the food are cook by steaming and leaving in the steamer.
Most of food served by the waiter are coming with vaporing, and the cute outlook... I can't stand them but put them into my mouth as soon as possible!
Most of the place in HK turn on the air condition to the lowest degree I think, and I often feel cold there.
In this case, a warm tea with numerous snacks are the best jacket for me.....

2. Soup noodle (Lau min)
It's not as splendid as other HK food.
But the skill to cook soup (煲湯) of HK people is so famous in the world.
The fresh materials with the soup cooked for hours can always amaze me. 3. 茶餐廳(Tea Restaurant)
I personally think it is a miracle of HK food.
The living tempo in Hong Kong is so fast because it is the business center of Asia.
People like to eat food really convenient and fast.
Not only that, they want to eat all kinds of food anytime they want.
The tea restaurant satisfied them.
The menu here is also interesting which are written in Chinese but in Cantonese pronanciation.
Besides that, the creative meals are also another characteristic of the food here.
They friend 'instant noodle' and put 'can meat' in many meal.
I never tried those food before.
4. 絲襪奶茶 (Silk Socks Milk tea)
I tried many milk tea in the world because it is my favorite drinks.
I heard the silk socks milk tea is really funneling the silk socks to create the rich taste of the milk tea.
Did you see how cute they are?!
If you order the cold one, they will use a bowl to full of the ice and leave the milk tea in the middle but add the ice into the milk tea.
Based on HK friends' explaination, in this way, you will have the same taste for the whole cup and it can also prove that they didn't jerry-build it.
Hey! Taiwanese tea shop~ please learn something from here! specially a one whose cup used Styrofoam.
5. 雞蛋仔 (kids of egg ?!)
It made by the same materials of cake, but the mouthfeel in totally different.
The middle of the 'egg' is empty.
When you bike it, you will feel soft and crisp at the same time.
How incredible~ just try it!
6. 燒味 (燒臘 in Taiwan) - Grill
For me, it is the another icon of HK food.
They cook the meat in different way~
In Taiwan, this meal is always with poultry.
But in HK, there are also some pork too.
Moreover, they will have all different souce for different type of meat.
Well~ Got to say~ I like the easy Taiwanese HK style more. :P7. 涼品 (cold snacks)
This business is so successful in HK.
The weather acturally is so similar between Taiwan and HK.
But HK people like this kind of food more.
Those snacks generally made by some Chinese herb which is healthy oriented.
Smart HK people created more diversities of this food.
You can add coconut milk or some other tropical fruits.
In sum, it is an invincible snack to fight the heat in summer!
I like it so much......
8. 串燒 (Cabob)
Acturally I am not sure the real name of this food.
But it is cooked in BBQ style.
The speciality is the orange souce which called Cha-Xiu (叉燒).
For me, it is also really HK style.
You can see the HK style cabob are mostly organs of the pig.
Still worth to recommand to everybody~
